Position Profile:

Oversees and leads the day-to-day operations of the Engineering functions of the building including but not limited to Hotel, Beach Club, Spa and Food & Beverage Spaces. 

The upkeep, rehabilitation, and maintenance of the entire building facility, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs. 

  • Conducts walk-throughs to visually and physically assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure of the hotel and residences, all mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C. systems, and any other related equipment.
  • Assigns and verifies completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, outlets, back of the house spaces and grounds. Assigns and verifies completion of all repairs, replacement, renovation projects to public and back of house areas.
  • Leads with a practive appropach the engineering team to exploit every single abilites of his/her staff and improving their knowledge of all areas of maintenance.
  • Informs General Manager and hotel department heads, on a regular basis, regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems and equipment offering prudent and cost-effective proposals for maintaining the same. Accesses and inputs information into a computer and generate reports.
  • Adheres to all Corporate required budgets, purchasing policies and controls, to include all outside contractor bids, and schedules.  Participates in budget management and capital project management.
  • Maintains and documents effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs.
  • Mantains organized and efficient administrative and filling systems within Property Operations for the timely and accurate handling of correspondence, reports, requisitions for purchase and other administrative requirements of the department.
  • Maintains a well-defined and organized system within the shop for inventory, maintenance and storage of all tools, products, materials and equipment necessary to execute the required activities of the department.
  • Immediately available to report to the building in the event of any hotel emergency which necessitates the skills and expertise of the Director of Property Operations.


 



 

Expected skills:

  • Critical thinking, through the constant analysis of situations and difficulties to face in the daily activities
  • Knowledge of modern building techniques
  • Expertise in cloud technologies and modern human-computer interfaces
  • Strong capacity to organize and plan different maintenance projects
  • Able to deal with different actors (contractors, suppliers, local authorities) and knowledge of local law and culture
  • Leadership abilities with a strategic mind
  • Knowledge of the hotel's various systems (TV, telephone, gtc, etc.)
  • Particularly attentive to the safety of colleagues and equipment

 

Studies:

  • Engineering, Facilities Management Degree.
  • Any licences or permits that may be required by law such as an electrical license. Certifications such as refrigerations, HVAC, electrical, chillers, boilers, pool operator.

Professional experience:

  • 10 years of experience in an engineering management position
  • Prior luxury hotel experience strongly preferred
