Profile Summary
The Steward is a key role in our hotel and is responsible for washing dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and cooking equipment, maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety throughout the kitchen and dining service.
- Dishwashing: ensure that all dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and cooking equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized to meet health and safety standards, often using industrial dishwashers or washing by hand for delicate items.
- Cleaning Kitchen Equipment and Surfaces: responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen tools, cooking equipment, countertops, and food prep areas.
- Clean stoves, ovens, refrigerators, sinks, and other areas of the kitchen to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with food safety regulations. This includes deep cleaning tasks like scrubbing floors, wiping down surfaces, and sanitizing high-touch areas.
- Waste Management: manage the disposal of trash and food waste ensuring that waste is removed from the kitchen and dining areas promptly and that it is disposed of properly according to local regulations (recycling, composting, etc.). Also assist with sorting recyclables or other waste materials for disposal or repurposing.
- Maintaining Stock of Cleaning Supplies: ensure that the kitchen and dining areas are well-stocked with necessary cleaning materials and supplies (detergents, sanitizers, gloves, etc.).
- Assist with inventory management for cleaning products and kitchen tools, reporting low stock or broken equipment to the supervisor.
- Organizing and Storing Kitchen Equipment: help organizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and storage areas to ensure that everything is properly stored, easy to access, and safe. This may involve organizing shelves, cabinets, or pantries in the kitchen and ensuring items are clean and properly sanitized before storing.
- Assisting with Food Preparation: assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables, washing produce, or assembling ingredients for the chefs. Support kitchen operations by preparing ingredients that are used in cooking.
- Maintaining Kitchen Hygiene: ensure that hygiene standards are adhered to, including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, utensils, and equipment after every use.
